Adding games to your Marker Event.

In this section, we'll show examples of adding games in Marker.  For our regular weekly Event we typically run four overall games (that include everyone) and there are always several "side games" going on between the competitors.  Below we'll walk through how we setup and monitor the games.

AddScorecardCompleted.png

Our last section finished off with creating scorecards, now we're ready to add games.  Tap on the "+" adjacent to the "Games" heading to bring up the games screen.

AddGamesSelect-portrait.png

Here you'll see the SelectGames screen.  We'll add the Skins game first so tap on that button to get to the game configuration screen.

AddGamesSkins.png

The base configuration screen allows you to select the players that wish to participate in this game (all are selected by default) and also you can select net or gross scoring.  We always use the "Stroke off the low ball" setting in our games so I will select it.

AddGamesSkinsAdvanced.png

There is also an advanced settings screen.  We'll take a look at that here as we use some additional settings for our regular game.  These settings are common to most of the net games in Marker.

AddGamesSkinsPercentHandicap.png

Here you can see several other options that can be selected which are relatively self explanatory.  We limit the handicap allowance in our game so I'll set that now.

AddGamesSkinsPercentageSet.png

We allow players to use half of their course handicap for the skins game (rounded down) so we set the allowance to "49%".

AddGamesSkinsBuyin.png

Scrolling down toward the bottom of this view we can see the buy-in settings.  Here you can enter the buy-in amount for this game and select some additional parameters.

AddGamesSkinsBuyinSet.png

We are going to enter 20 for our buy-in.  You can also select if you want skins to "carry over" where each tied hole carries over to the next - when a "skin" if finally won it includes all the previous carryovers.

AddGamesSkinsPerSkin.png

You can also choose to have skins "validated" with a net par or better on the following hole. Finally - you can select whether to pool the buy-in and have it split between the number of skins or have each player pay this amount to the skin

AddGamesSkinsDone.png

Once you have tapped "Save" you'll be taken back to the main event screen where we can continue to add our other games.  Tap the "+" again.

AddGamesNetStrokePlay-portrait.png

We don't change any parameters for our net game so you can simply tap "Save".  You'll be taken back to the event page and we'll tap the "+" again and select stroke play.

AddGamesGrossStrokePlay-portrait.png

This time however, we'll select the "gross" tab and then tap "Save".  We'll go back to the event screen and add one more game.

AddGamesTeamStrokePlay.png

Tap the "+" icon again and select "Team Stroke Play".  Here again we'll accept the default settings (we'll have a separate section on advanced settings), scroll down to select the team parameters and members.

AddGamesTeamStrokeSelectTeamMembers.png

No you can decide how you want to create the teams.  We have done three teams of four by default but you could just as easily have done 4 groups of three or six groups of two.  You also have a link that will allow you to automatically shuffle the teams if you like.  (There is also the ability to select a blind draw for a team if you have an odd number of players - more on that later.)

AddGamesTeamStrokePlaySelected.png

If you want to manually assign teams, just tap the checkbox next to the players you want to be in Team 1.  You will only be given the option of the remaining players as you go along.  Once you are finished selecting the teams we'll move the aggregate settings.

AddGamesTeamStrokeAggregates.png

The default is that we have one choice for number of balls to count for the full 18 hole round, but we have the ability to change that if we like.  We like to make things a bit interesting in our regular game so we modify these settings.

AddGamesTeamStrokeAggregates2.png

You can see here I set the game to use 3 of four net balls for 1-16, but to use all 4 balls on 17-18.  You can set any permutation you like here to suit your players imaginations.

AddGamesTeamStrokeBuy-In.png

Now we'll set the buy-in for the team game.  We'll use $25 to give us a $300 pool and we'll set payouts for 1st and 2nd place teams at $200 and $100 respectively.  Almost done.

AddGamesTeamStrokeSubtotals.png

In addition to places we can have payouts for sub-totals (front/back etc.).  Choose the subtotals you like and add the buy-in amounts for those.  When you're finished tap "Save" and we're ready to publish the Event.
